Sod Calculator

Looking to figure out how much sod you need for your yard? I've simplified it for you. Just enter the dimensions for the area you're looking to sod below and we'll tell you how many pieces and pallets you will need.

Square Area:

Circle Area:

Triangle Area:

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to use the sod calculator:

  • Square Area: If the area where you plan to lay the sod is square or rectangular, enter the length and width of that area in feet. You can measure this using a measuring tape or other tools.
  • Circle Area: If the area you're working with is circular, measure the radius of the circle. The radius is the distance from the center of the circle to its edge. Input this value in feet in the 'Radius' field.
  • Triangle Area: For triangular areas, measure the base and the height of the triangle. The base is any one side, and the height is the perpendicular distance from the base to the opposite vertex. Enter these values in feet in the respective 'Base' and 'Height' fields.

After you have input all the required measurements, click on the 'Calculate' button.

The calculator will now compute the total square footage of the sod required, the number of pallets needed (assuming one pallet covers 450 square feet), and the total number of sod pieces required (assuming one pallet contains 500 pieces). These results will be displayed below the 'Calculate' button.

Please note that these calculations provide an estimate. For more precise measurements or for irregularly shaped areas, you may need to break out your geometry text book from middle school!
