Doing a renovation or remodel of your home isn't the same way you see it on T.V.
In fact, it's a lot more messy and hard than you can imagine.
I know because I've been there and done that, and it was a headache of epic proportions.
I created Remodel Reality so that I can help people avoid the mistakes I made, and find answers to the questions I had during the process.
Right at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that started in 2019 my mom, a widow, had some health challenges and she needed to be in a safe and welcoming place so she moved in with us.
However, our home was not set up to handle someone new coming in, and we needed to do some major work to our house in order to get her a space she'd be comfortable in. So we began our journey down the road of renovating our home to get her space built out.
But it wasn't as simple as you would imagine.
The television shows on HGTV make it all look so easy - even when they throw in a twist about a delay or something else like discovering wood rot, or some other complication.
In reality, that's not the way things go.
The entire goal of this site is to become a resource for you if you're thinking about doing some renovations or remodeling your home, or if you're just curious how this stuff all works in the real world - hence the name of the site being Remodel Reality.
